September is one of my favourite months, partly because of my birthday and of course little Stevie’s birthday, and secondly because it’s the beginning of the change of seasons. Not that I don’t love the summer sunshine, but I have to admit I do quite like the beginning of Autumn mainly because it’s also a good excuse to start thinking about a nice new winter coat or pair of new boots ??. It’s also particularly exciting for us because we get all our new stock in and a couple of very exciting new brands to launch. This year we are delighted to add Mini Rodini to our Hip Little People family. A personal favourite of ours, they do the most amazing Winter coats out there! This year they have the fabulous Siberia Red Leopard winter coat and the super cool and cute Siberia Penguin winter coat, which both Zak and Stevie will be cruising around in this year.
Mini Rodini is a Swedish brand that was founded in 2006 by illustrator Cassandra Rhodin as a tribute to all children. It’s a brand that is full of imagination and creativity. It’s so individual, unique and fun and in my opinion there’s definitely a Mini Rodini piece in each season that will match most children’s personality, imagination and mood. What’s also very important to Mini Rodini is their ethical morals, every piece is made with organic cotton and recycled materials. In their own words
“It’s about building a business that recognises both impact and responsibility: to the environment, employees and customers and the people who make our products.”
Mini Rodini is vastly becoming one of our top brands and we’ve already managed to grab ourselves quite a few pieces from this season. I can’t wait to put Zak in the totem pole long sleeve tee and the gorgeous penguin coat. I’m also looking forward to seeing Stevie in my favourite piece’s from the collection – the red leopard print L/S frill dress with the leggings, and there is still so much more to choose from too!
The other super exciting collection we launched earlier this August was the uber cool Beau Loves. The excellent “I saw galaxy in your eyes” A/W16 collection is just amazing. It feels gorgeous and looks, as Beau Loves always manages to do so well, super super cool. Once again capturing children’s imagination and interest in Space and magic, something which founder Faye’s son is particularly interested in at the moment. I believe this is who she gets all her inspiration from for her collections. The soft pallet of greys, silvers and golds are just gorgeous and great for both little girls and boys. One of my favourites is the fab Beau Loves long sleeve bomber jacket and the gorgeous Digital Galaxy dress!
So we decided with these two special brands to do a little photo shoot and short film. Lucy found a great spot in Bristol, a popular graf drenched skate park called St George. The shoot was quite a task as we were trying to control Zak and Stevie who were doing their best to slide down the ramps on their bums directly in the paths of the skaters using the park, while simultaneously dressing and directing our two lovely twin models Rubin & Sol. We managed to convince a friend’s super cool twin boys to model for us in exchange for some ice cream (it was a very hot day so they needed to some convincing to wear the winter coats). But they were absolutely amazing, and perfect Hip Little People brand reps! We got some great shots and Stevie’s Daddy Tim took some pics and made this great little film for us to show off the clothes. Enjoy!
